Next Author

 GUESS WHAT???

I have another awesome author to introduce you to, and she is also one of the ten behind the upcoming giveaway. You do NOT want to miss the giveaway, so keep checking this blog for more details. So, the author I want to introduce you to today has more than a dozen novels in various genres for you to peruse. You do NOT want to miss her best-selling Stolen Empire series.

Sherry D. Ficklin

Sherry is the author of over a dozen novels for teens and young adults including the best-selling Stolen Empire series. She can often be found browsing her local bookstore with a large white hot chocolate in one hand and a towering stack of books in the other. That is, unless she's on deadline at which time she, like the Loch Ness monster, is only seen in blurry photographs.

The book she is giving away for our Christmas in July promo is Kingdoms of Shadow and Dust

Blurb: As the king's only daughter, Ava was supposed to be many things; meek, submissive, and above all, silent. While she dreams of fighting alongside the armies of Ankara, she's forced to hide her identity behind a veil.

It seems her prayers are answered when fate intervenes, allowing Ava to sneak away and join the battle. Yet, the tides of war turn on her, leaving the young beauty defeated... her hopes shattered. Her only chance at salvation is Callen, a mysterious black wolf willing to risk everything by hiding her away among his kind.

But there are some dangers far more ominous than the snapping jaws of a wolf. Ripped away from the brave Turnskins, Ava is imprisoned by the beguiling Shadow King who fills her head with promises of peace and a haze of passion. Forced to choose between her family, the bond she shares with Callen, and the handsome king's striking proposal, Ava finds herself torn between duty and desire.

When an unthinkable sacrifice is required to save all she holds dear, will Ava accept the crushing demands of taking the crown?  Or follow her heart to the forbidden touch she desperately craves?

Work-in-Progress

I have finally picked a title for my current work-in-progress.

Ruler of the Dead
And this is my cover without the title.

Here is a short excerpt:

Kevin took a visual inventory of Riley Bishop and wondered if he too would develop a crush on her someday. Her hair was the color of a Hershey’s candy bar: deep, dark brown, and her eyes reminded him of the blue on Superman’s costume. Boys flirted with her all the time when she came into the diner, but she talked to them with what his mom called a ‘smart mouth,’ indicating she wasn’t interested. They still kept trying.
Riley glared at him. “Why are you staring at me?”
“I was trying to decide if you’re pretty.”
She kicked him under the table.
“Ow!” He rubbed his sore leg. “What did you do that for?”
“Because you’re a moron. You don’t tell a girl that you aren’t sure if she’s pretty. No one wants to hear that. It should be obvious that someone is pretty.”
“All the guys like you, so I was trying to figure out if I’m going to lose my mind and like you someday. I mean, like you as more than a friend. You didn’t have to kick me.”
Riley’s eyes narrowed. “And? Am I pretty?”
He didn’t want to lie, but he didn’t want to get kicked again either. His father told him there was always a wise way to answer every question. A person just needed to give it some thought. So he did. He thought long and hard about the best way to respond.
He shrugged. “Guess the only girl I think is really pretty is my mom.”
Riley’s mouth spread into a wide smile. “Good answer. See? You can use your brain when you want. Now focus it on your math.”
He gave her a you-think-you’re-funny-but-you’re-really-not look.

Math sucked!
